The VINTAGE TUBE MONSTER VT999 effects pedal has that full-tone roar of a tube engine under its hood, letting you take off with anything from warm blues overdrive to heavy distortion.
This high-quality stomp box has the warm sound of a hand-selected 12AX7 vacuum tube. In addition, the VT999 offers an integrated and switchable noise gate with adjustable threshold that keeps your sound noise-free. A status LED for effect On/Off is included, plus there is a true hard-wired bypass for ultimate signal integrity.
With this monster engine, your guitar playing will definitely be kicked into monster overdrive!
OK - reality check …
The Behringer VT999 Vintage Tube Monster Pedal is a hybrid design utilizing solid state ICs and a 12AX7 tube for overdrive distortion. Out of the box, the pedal sounds a bit rough and ratty. There is no just-on-the-edge setting between clean and overdrive.
The BitMo Monstrosity mod kit adds a 3-way switch providing 3 distinct voicings – a vintage blues tweed, a buxom woman tone, and even a balzout high gain distortion. Different settings of the MID knob give boost, cut and scoop.
With an upgraded tube, you can go from a clean boost, through touch sensitive blues overdrive, classic rock crunch, to full-on singing distortion. The best tube I have found for this pedal is a Tung Sol 12AX7.
It’s hard to believe how great this little thing can sound with these simple mods. There are no dangerous voltages and the whole operation takes less than half an hour.
I like these mods so much that I have discontinued the 2BM kit (and probably the 2BO kit for the VT911 also).
Add real tube overdrive tone to any amp. This is a great 1st kit or an add-on to your BitMo modded amp. What'd'ya got to loose?
